A daughter of one of the more underrated stallions in Australia
Yearling Bay Filly
- Sire: Nicconi
- Dam: Chance Liaison
- Foal Date: September 29, 2017 (AUS)
From a black-type winning family closely related to a Champion 2yo in Japan
“In this Inglis Premier sale we set out to secure a VOBIS qualified filly by a proven sire from a proven vendor, who looks a potential 2yo but will excel at three. This filly fits that criteria, as does the price.” – Nigel Blackiston
NICCONI is one of the most under-rated stallions in Australia. Those “in the know” love him as he produces good, tough horses with speed, at value. As a racehorse he won the Group 1 AJC Galaxy and the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap, plus five other races.
Beautifully managed by Widden Stud, Nicconi is the sire of 17 stakes-winners at a healthy strike rate and a winners percentage of runners high up with the very best sires in the region (74%).
His leading progeny are Group winners NATURE STRIP, FAATINAH, CHILL PARTY, NICOSCENE, SIRCCONI, HEAR THE CHANT and TONY NICCONI.
For the past two seasons, Nicconi made the Top 20 Australian Sires by Earnings, and Top 10 by Wins and Winners.
This season, Nature Strip and Lankan Star (2nd Blue Diamond S.) lead the way.
Our stable has also had success with a stakes-winning daughter of Nicconi, EXCLUSIVE LASS. One of the reasons for our attraction to his progeny.
CHANCE LIAISON is by the outstanding racehorse andsuccessful broodmare sire, FALBRAV.
She is a half-sister to six winners, including to the winning dam of Japan’s Champion 2yo Colt in 2010, GRAND PRIX BOSS.
Grand Prix Boss won the Group 1 Nakayama Asahi Hai Futurity S., (1600m beating Real Impact) at two, and returned at three to win the Group 1 Tokyo NHK Mile Cup (1600m again beating Real Impact).
But his career did not end there. He won two more Group races at four and five, and placed in four Group 1 events competing with Champions JUST A WAY and ABLE FRIEND.
Another of her half-siblings won five races in the hot racing jurisdiction of Japan.
This is the family descending from 3rd dam NERVOUS PILLOW, matriarch of 74 winners from just over 100 starters across the globe (mostly USA and Japan). Those winners include seven stakes-winners and a further three stakes-placed runners, one of those in a Group 1 Breeders Cup Juvenile (Fillies).
The BIANCONI sire-line cross over FAIRY KING and his sons like FALBRAV, is well-regarded, albeit from limited numbers.
From 39 runners to date, there have been 29 winners so far and three stakes-winners. A further three are stakes-placed. One of those stakes-winners, CHILL PARTY, is by Nicconi. True Nicks rates this cross as:
This filly’s pedigree is evidence of line-breeding to the blue hen mare FAIRY BRIDGE, dam of both SADLER’S WELLS (in NICCONI’s pedigree) and FAIRY KING (grand-sire of Chance Liaison).
Interestingly, there is just the one runner containing both Nicconi and Falbrav in the pedigree. That horse was NICOF, a seven-time winner.
