A great return by our Lass

After a terrific Spring campaign, concluding in a victory in the Listed Rosemont Black Pearl Stakes at Geelong and a courageous run in the Group 3 Maybe Mahal Stakes at Flemington, Exclusive Lass enjoyed a  beneficial spell over Summer.

She returned this preparation to trial well on two occasions, once down the Flemington straight and once at Werribee. We were confident she had picked up where she left off in the Spring, and thought she would run well today in the 1100m Fillies & Mares Spring at Flemington.

In a race worthy of black-type given the quality fillies and mares in the field, Exclusive Lass showed her customary speed and tenaciousness to lead the field. In the lead she remained until the shadows of the post, where she was just run down by the well-credentialed NZ mare Miss Seton Sands.

Although showing promise earlier in her career, this mare has just kept improving. Now a stakes-winner, in a very good field at Geelong last Spring, we seek more black-type for her in coming weeks.
