A quieter ride, a stronger finish for Electric Aura

Posted on Posted in News

Since her maiden victory at Moe in October, Electric Aura put in three fair efforts at Pakenham, Sale and Moonee Valley. But it’s fair to say we were a touch disappointed in her a couple of times.

Compared to her track work, her final sprint and strength were missing on a couple of occasions. Nigel was convinced we were not seeing the best of Electric Aura in her races, and reconsidered riding tactics.

Heading to Sale for a BM64 event over 1736m, Nigel was keen to see her ridden a little quieter by Michael Walker. A change of head gear was also applied in the knowledge that Electric Aura had responded well each time blinkers or winkers were applied or removed.

The race shaped well for Electric Aura, with Michael positioning her in the second half of the field and allowing her to balance up early in the straight. Her closing finish was one of the strongest on the day, coming from 10th position before eventually winning with a comfortable margin.

There is no doubt in our minds now regarding the best way to ride this mare. So we will continue to find some suitable benchmark races for her to progress through over the Summer period.

Congratulations to a great group of Lessees and Owners, including Rich Hill Stud.
