Upcoming runners

Over the next week we are excited about our runners.

At Cranbourne on Friday night, COSTALOT is ready for her second race start in the 1200m 2yo fillies maiden. She was very good late in the race behind smart filly Earth Angel at her first race start, and will have learned a great deal from that experience.

On Saturday at Bendigo, AMARELA contests the Bendigo Gold Bracelet over 1400m, in which she placed last year. Although 1400m may be a touch short, it is a nice step towards some good races over 1600m and 2000m in coming weeks. We expect to see her hitting the line strongly, and hopefully run into the money.

On Sunday at Ballarat, old mate FERRO NERO and young filly SNEAKERS are well-prepared. Ferro Nero steps up to a more suitable distance, whilst Sneakers is resuming following a couple of nice jump outs at Flemington.

On Tuesday at Geelong, SONSEE ARRAY also resumes. She is a filly that is starting to mature nicely now. Whilst we think she is a genuine 2000m type of filly and mare in the making, we expect a competitive performance first-up based on a couple of nice jump outs.

At Sandown on Wednesday, we expect BIG PAT’S PONTIAC to maintain his consistency in recent starts, stepping out over a mile in the 3yo BM64 event. Since breaking through for a win at Geelong several weeks ago, he has shown a liking to be ridden a little quieter and has been very strong late in his races. We think he can win in this grade in the city. Hopefully it is Wednesday.

These runners follow hot on the heels of the victories of GETEMHEL earlier this week at Geelong and FASTBROOK at Sandown, and several good placings by CADABRA, WINSTON LEGACY, AMORTISE, PRIME APPEAL and BIG PAT’S PONTIAC in recent weeks.

Activity has been increasing in recent weeks, with a number of unraced or lightly-raced two and three-year-olds stepping out at the Flemington jump outs, and on the track. Here are a few from last Friday.

Zoophoria is a progressive 2yo filly owned by Arrowfield Stud and connections. She has trialled very nicely, twice, but will benefit from a spell now and return as a late 2yo for a racing preparation. An Animal Kingdom filly that has a bright future.

Danbana is a colt we purchased last year at the Inglis Premier sale, by superstar stallion Dansili. He floats in his gallops and gives us something to be excited about as he matures, and when he gets up over 1600m and further.

A reminder that we have shares available in just one of the six horses selected and purchased by Nigel this year. By exciting young sire EXCELEBRATION, this colt is from the family of Cox Plate and Guineas winner SHAMUS AWARD.
