Jockey Brian Higgins was rewarded for his courageous decision to retain the ride on enigmatic filly Sneakers with an impressive win at Ladbrokes Park on Monday.

Higgins was due to the ride the daughter of Stravinsky at Ballarat on April 2 before she was scratched after a pre-race incident in which she flipped over and landed on Higgins in the mounting yard.

The rider, who escaped the incident without any structural damage, praised the training efforts of Flemington horseman Nigel Blackiston and said there was still improvement to come in the exciting three-year-old, who defied her $81 starting price to comfortably win the 1300m Handicap.
