A great return

It was a tremendous return to racing by UNDER MY SPELL today at Caulfield, with a metro-placing at just her 2nd race start.

Facing a heavy track for the first time and up in grade after her maiden win at Warrnambool in January, Brendan & Jo Lindsay’s filly balanced up and worked home strongly to place 2nd.

We can’t wait to see her step up in distance gradually this preparation. She’s an ideal 2000m type, perhaps further, like many of the good progeny of Pierro.

Damien Oliver provided a good report for connections after her race today.

“A nice run. She is a lovely, scopey filly who doesn’t carry of a lot of condition. I feel she is going to get better as she gets over further ground. A mile next time will be lovely.”

Thanks to the team at Cambridge Stud for the chance to train her. A good preparation lies ahead.

Watch the race replay and look for Brendan and Jo Lindsay’s colours of black and gold checks.
