Emerald Crown maiden win on the board

She was given a difficult task pre-race, but it was great to see Emerald Crown claim her maiden win at Ballarat yesterday.

It was a strong, positive ride from John Allen. With still some learning to do in her race craft and manners, she is not short on ability. Using both her strengths and his own, Johnny made it an easy watch as she could just build momentum through the race.

It is proof that often these jockeys are courageous and up for a challenge so we thank Johnny for his persistent efforts with this horse.

Gaining some confidence was a goal from todays race, and it should bring her on in leaps and bounds.

She has been quite highly strung and has come with a few challenges but given her ability we believe her best is yes to come as she gains more experience.

It would be great to keep stepping her up in grade as the weather improves and we can find out how good she really is.

Emerald Crown is a full sister to G1 winner Mystic Journey, making her an exciting horse to have in racing and also a great breeding proposition.

Owner Ross Wilkinson purchased her for $55,000 at the Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale when Mystic Journey was only just beginning to emerge. She was offered by Armidale Stud on behalf of the Zito, Cichello and Button families.

Well done Ross! Thanks for supporting us with this mare and it is great to be sharing this success.
