Emerald Crown Continues Progressive Ways

Emerald Crown was brilliant in winning at Ballarat today in what should be another confidence boosting win. From here she can continue to head towards bigger and better races.

Coming to the home corner she accelerated strongly into a challenging headwind to win comfortably and appears to have more in hand.

Thanks to Michael Rodd for his balanced ride. He came across nicely after the jump and was forward with her, yet she still had a bunny to chase into the straight and benefitted greatly from that.

Thankfully it goes to show her run last time was to be ignored and not true to her ability. It can be seen that fillies and mares sometimes do that during the spring months.

She is definitely still a madam, however her temperament is showing signs of improvement. For now we can say that she’s strong willed but we also take no issue with that if she’s performing on the racetrack.

Thanks to my staff especially Steph and Mark for their help at the races today to get the best out of here and ensure all went well.

From here, we will try and find another win for her as she continues to develop and keep building her confidence in racing.

It’s still to our mind a learning preparation for her and she will be a much better horse in the autumn.

Nonetheless, results like today are pleasing for all involved. Particularly her owner Ross Wilkinson who with we are sharing a good run of form lately, having multiple winners this week.

We are also appreciative to both the Ballarat Turf Club and Racing Victoria. Thanks to BTC for investing in an all-weather track and to RV for moving the meeting to ensure it was still run. While it’s not an ideal scenario to move meetings, had it been run on the heavy 10 course proper Emerald Crown would have been scratched.

Emerald Crown’s win also brought up a double for us today, with the win of Pure Exceleration. You can read about that by clicking here.
