Her Sire

This filly is by Harry Angel (IRE), a champion sprinter whose electrifying speed and toughness on the track have made him one of the most exciting young stallions standing today.

Crowned World Champion 3YO Sprinter, Harry Angel’s career was marked by brilliance and consistency at the highest level. He won the Group 1 July Cup and Group 1 Haydock Sprint Cup in dominant fashion, defeating elite older sprinters with a blend of tactical speed and raw acceleration. His Timeform rating of 132 ranks him among the fastest horses of his generation.

Harry Angel is a son of the influential sire Dark Angel, himself a source of precocious speed and a proven producer of Group 1 winners including Battaash, Mecca’s Angel, and Lethal Force. Harry Angel’s dam, Beatrix Potter (by Cadeaux Genereux), hails from a family rich in black type performers and has produced multiple stakes winners, making this a deep and reliable maternal line. With Dark Angel’s hallmark speed and the toughness of his dam’s line, Harry Angel delivers a potent blend of commercial appeal and classic sprinting excellence into his progeny.

Now proving his worth at stud, Harry Angel is quickly making his presence felt. He has sired 20 Stakes-winners and has already entrenched himself in the top 10 Sires list in Australia (by prizemoney).

His best performers include the multiple G1-winner Tom Kitten (G1 The All-Star Mile, G1 Spring Champion Stakes), top three-year-old Private Harry (unbeaten in five stars, including the G1 The Galaxy), and War Machine (G1 Stradbroke Handicap). His progeny are showing early speed, soundness, and an ability to train on over a mile and a quarter.

Her Dam

This filly is the second foal of Verlan, a winning mare by So You Think (NZ) out of Most Secretive.

Verlan  won two sprint races in New South Wales and placed once in metro company. Here is her dominant, five-length maiden win at Newcastle, and here is a fighting win at Wyong. Thereafter, Verlan ran some good races in strong BM70 races, mostly at metro meetings.

Her family includes the Group 1 winner Covertly (G1 WATCH Railway Stakes) plus six other stakes-winners descending from third dam Most Secret (out of 80 runners). That’s an impressive 9% stakes-winners-to-runners in this family!

All of these good performers in the family are sprinter-milers. Being by influential sire So You Think (NZ) (a grandson of Sadler’s Wells), Verlan may contribute an extra helping of stamina to this filly. That is consistent with Harry Angel’s progeny being capable of extending their winning distances to 2000m, and consistent with this filly’s type and physical characteristics.

Her Type

On type and based on the early signs shown in her education, Nigel and the breaking-in team at Boorolite Park believe this filly is capable of running in her two-year-old season and maturing into a miler and beyond as a three-year-old. She is strong, well-balanced and has a terrific attitude to learning. She is more mature at this stage of her life, compared to the other yearlings who went through their breaking-in process in April and May.
