Mercante Fights Back to Win

Posted on Posted in News

Suited with a step up to 2400m, Mercante fought back bravely to win at Pakenham.

The 4YO son of Dundeel had a patient and favourable ride from Beau Mertens – with the two making a great combination in a stoush down the straight.

It’s clear with patience he has developed into a nice staying prospect – both his demeanour and frame are maturing.

It’s not always horses can be so willing – so the attitude Mercante brings to his racing is particularly pleasing. He settles nicely but fights to the finish.

Fitting him with visors instead of blinkers may have aided too, being able to see his opposition he only seemed keener to beat them to the line.

Continually improving with racing, he will continue to race this preparation as long as his physical and mental condition allows.

In winning his second race, Mercante’s earnings have already tipped over $100,000.

Congratulations to the group of owners and a big thank you for their support.

He’ll be winning again soon.
