At this week's Inglis Premier Yearling sale, we were fortunate to purchase a quality colt by one of the world's truly outstanding sires, DANSILI.
A few groups of owners came together before the sale to set a budget, agree their preferences, inspect horses with Nigel and ultimately purchase this colt out of the stakes-placed mare BANA WU (by German sire SHIROCCO, a son of brilliant sire MONSUN).
DANSILI contested 12 consecutive Group races after he had won his first two starts in impressive style. He managed to reach the first four in all but one of these, recording three Group successes and six Group 1 placings.
As a sire, DANSILI's numerous Group winners from his early sire seasons include HARBINGER, rated the best horse in the world following his brilliant victory in the King George Stakes, and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner RAIL LINK.
In Australia, FORETELLER (G1 MRC Underwood Stakes, G1 ATC Ranvet Stakes, G1 VRC Maybe Diva Stakes), GRAND MARSHALL (G1 Sydney Cup), and DANDINO (G3 VRC Queen's Cup and 3rd G1 Caulfield Cup) have flown his flag. There have only been 36 runners by DANSILI in Australia/New Zealand, and ten have won stakes-races.
Just 9 of his progeny have been foaled in Australia and raced. All 9 are winners, and they have collectively won 23 races. SOFT SAND (LR MRC Kevin hayes Stakes and 2nd G1 VRC Myer Classic) is the best performer to date, of these few yearlings.
In all, he is the sire of 107 stakes winners at a strike rate of 11.4% of runners. 19 of those are Group 1 winners. He is phenomenally successful, and considered one of DANEHILL's best sire sons. In 2015, his UK yearlings averaged £315,000 at all public auctions.
The dam of this colt purchased, is UK-bred mare BANA WU. She was a winner over 2000m in a short 13 start career. She was three times placed in stakes races, including the Listed Wolferton Handicap at Royal Ascot. She also placed fourth in two Group races.
The second dam of this colt is MY WAY, a half-sister to STRATEGIC PRINCE, a Group 2 winner and placed in the highly-regarded Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes in UK.
