Excelebration progeny proving their worth

Excelebration sired his first stakes-winner on Saturday at Newbury (UK), the first of many one suspects as his progeny mature into their three-year-old seasons.

BARNEY ROY (3c Excelebration-Alina, by Galileo) captured the Group III Greenham Stakes in impressive style.

The Greenham Stakes is run over 1400m and has been previously won by some outstanding horses on their way to future successes, none more impressive than FRANKEL. Throw in PACO BOY, DICK TURPIN, OLYMIC GLORY, and KINGMAN as previous winners, Barney Roy has some big shoes to fill.

Barney Roy was purchased privately by Goldolphin following a runaway victory at his only start at the age of two. Returning at three, the colt quickly repaid his new owners and heads to the QIPCO 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket, undefeated.

“We’ve always liked Barney Roy and there’s a big chance he’ll go to the Guineas.” – trainer Richard Hannon.

Barney Roy is now into 6/1 third favourite for the 2,000 Guineas.

As the Northern Hemisphere flat season kicks into full swing, Excelebration looks set for a great year. Several of his first crop three-year-olds have Classic claims.

Ratiocination (3c Excelebration-Denebola, by Storm Cat) scored on debut at Chantlly and is a possible runner in  both the Poule d’Essai des Poulains and Prix du Jockey-Club.

Kauttio (3c Excelebration ex Pinacotheque, by In The Wings) trained by Andreas Wohler, is joint favourite for the German 2,000 Guineas after an easy win in the Robert Koch-Forum-Preis.

Ed Walker’s Ultimate Avenue (3c Excelebration-Dance Avenue, Sadler´s Wells) has the French 2,000 Guineas on his radar.

Trainer David Simcock is also dreaming of Classic success with his unbeaten colt Brittanic (3c Excelebration-Fountain Of Peace, by Kris S) who has won twice at Newcastle.

Nigel was thrilled to secure an outstanding type by this multiple Group 1 winning son of Exceed and Excel, at the recent Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale.

Offered as lot 55 from the raft of Henley park, the EXCELEBRATION colt out of six-time winner MAGITA was a standout on type and pedigree.
