This short story starts on Monday 26 April at Ballarat, the day Nigel came a cropper, shall we say. Luckily, the story ends with a double at Sportsbet-Ballarat on June 10th to give Nigel and Susanna, all the hard-working stable staff and of course numerous owners, just the tonic following a difficult few weeks.
The stable maintained our strong strike rate on the Sportsbet-Ballarat Synthetic surface with two more wins on Thursday 10 June. Both Kirakat and Under My Spell performed well in the wintery conditions to please their owners, and please a bruised and battered trainer.
We are now seeking an experienced Stablehand to join our team at Ballarat.
One of the four yearlings purchased at the 2019 Inglis Gold sale was a lovely filly by US stallion The Factor, out of a three-quarter-sister to Derby winner Arena. Our filly, now named Northern Bliss, scored her first win at Warracknabeal in the state’s north-west.

Horses don’t know their odds, and Sheeza Tilly certainly didn’t race like the $81 chance the market rated her at Echuca today. It was pleasing to see her win, and win well.
