A win for the purists

Posted on Posted in News

Our three-year-old gelding PURE EXCELERATION has been one of the best looking horses in the stable, and on Friday he backed up his looks with his first career victory at Terang.

Owned by a group of racehorse owner enthusiasts, considered “purist” lovers of racing and the horse, Pure Exceleration has shown promise from day 1. It has taken six starts for the penny to start to drop, with Nigel giving him time to find his feet and fit out into his terrific frame.

Five of his previous runs were very good for a horse learning his craft, with three placings and a fifth. Stepping up to 1400m for the first time this preparation, Pure Exceleration found himself in front of the pack much earlier than anticipated. Rider Jake Noonan did  great job to keep him going as the finisher’s were closing, reporting this this gelding will be much better when he has a horse to follow and chase down in the straight.

Pure Exceleration 20190321 Winner

Purchased at the 2017 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, from the draft of Henley Park, Pure Exceleration is by the multiple Group 1 winner EXCELEBRATION. Coolmore stood him in Australia for a couple of seasons after competing in the era of FRANKEL. He still managed to win three high-class Group 1 races. On three further occasions he was beaten by his nemesis.

Pure Exceleration is out of MAGITA. This makes him a half-brother to the speedy NSW sprinter BROOK MAGIC. But Pure Exceleration doesn’t possess the raw natural speed like his half-sister, with Nigel believing he will develop into an ideal 1600-2000m type this preparation. He is, after all, from the family of Champion 3YO Colt SHAMUS AWARD who excelled in this distance range.

Pure Exceleration is a quality looking animal. We are hopeful of a very successful career, for a great group of owners.
