Tough staying mare Let’s Make Adeal secured a start in the Melbourne Cup with an impressive victory in The Bart Cummings (2520m) on Sunday at Flemington.

The winner of the Group 3 event secured the biggest prize on offer at Flemington on Sunday – a guaranteed run in ‘the race that stops a nation’.

Dwayne Dunn gave Let’s Make Adeal a gun ride, settling her just off the pace and she cruised up to them on the turn before extending away for a strong victory, beating Our Ivanhowe and Hawkspur.

It’s a terrific achievement for trainer Nigel Blackiston winning the race named after his former boss, who passed away in August.

“He’s a great man and a great trainer and I spent seven lovely years with him and it was a very special time,” he said.

“To win this race on his passing I think is a great effort by my team.”
