Another Cup

We have had a great season travelling to Adelaide and on Saturday our import Ominous lifted the Port Adelaide Cup to go with the Adelaide Cup won by Outback Joe in March.

I had always wanted to get Ominous out over a trip and on Saturday was the first time we had gone past 2500m and I have to say the result was explosive.

Ominous2Having led all the way to score at his previous start, I was happy for Dwayne Dunn to take a sit over the longer journey and when he stoked him along to get up to challenge around the home turn he accelerated like a good horse to run past his rivals and win going away by three and a half lengths.

The key to Ominous has been gelding him and he is a different horse since enduring the unkindest cut. He is a pleasure to have in the stable now he is not trying to be alpha male all the time and it’s a credit to all the team at home, as well as the patience of his owners, that Ominous is now starting to realise his potential.

All being well we will now head to the $150,000 Andrew Ramsden (Listed, 3200m) at Flemington in two weeks time.
