Ashkazart getting his act together

Posted on Posted in News

Ashkazart has taken his time to work his racing out but showed with a big finish at Seymour on Sunday he is beginning to get the hang of things.

A homebred of Ross Wilkinson and Sandra Lawrence’s, Ashkazart is as good a looking horse as you would want to see. Size, scope, athleticism. The only problem has been the connection from his brain to his feet.

He has good ability as he showed with a fourth place finish to subsequent Queensland Derby winner Sonntag in a maiden at Sale last season and the way he relaxed and then hit the line last Sunday suggests he is beginning to understand the mechanics of racing. Mention needs to made here of Genevieve Hutchins, pictured above with Ashkazart, who rides him all his work at home and has done an excellent job with him.

James Winks allowed him to settle, waited until he as into the home straight and then Ashkazart motored home to just miss.

Very pleasing and I will look to take him back to Seymour for a similar race in two weeks time.
