Cathy’s Mark made her city debut at Moonee Valley on Friday night and with an ounce of luck she would have made it a winning one.
Unfortunately the inside barrier is not ideal at the 1500 metre start and Dwayne Dunn was always going to be smothered along the inside. She was held up at a vital stage into the home straight but she ran on very well to just miss, another stride or two and she gets there.
I was very pleased with her effort. She has always shown me ability but it has been a case of tempering her enthusiasm. I’d like to keep her in her right grade and look at a fillies race at Caulfield in two weeks time with her.
