Placement of horses has always been important in a horse’s career, even more so in Victoria in recent years. With that in mind, it was great to see Northern Bliss and Reforestation score wins over the Easter weekend.
Last start, Northern Bliss was tasked with competing in a BM70 at Cranbourne over the longer 2025m trip. She found both of those tasks a little too challenging. So Nigel reset his sights a little lower and shorter.
With blinkers also applied, Northern Bliss performed superbly at Warracknabeal on Saturday over the more suitable 1600m distance. A daughter of The Factor, it was worth trying her over 2000m but the mile is certainly her go. Jarrod Fry positioned her perfectly in second position on the outside of the leader, and rounding the home turn he put the race the bed. Northern Bliss was strong to the line winning by more than three lengths.

Northern Bliss was a $14,000 purchase at the 2019 Inglis Melbourne Gold sale. So her three wins have been pleasing for connections and if continued to be placed well in the right company and the right distance range, we think she is destined to win a couple more.
“Northern Bliss is a timely reminder of the opportunities on offer at the Inglis Gold yearling sale. By doing the research and being a little ‘picky’, it is possible to purchase yearlings who develop into multiple winners and have successful careers.”
Nigel
Reforestation has been loving life in the stable. His first run this campaign was back in November 2021, after a lengthly layoff. Since finding his right distance range he has been placed in all six runs and won his second race on Sunday.
There is not much of Reforestation, but he loves a fight. Watch his win on Sunday at Stawell over 2700m to see evidence of his tough resolve to perform and Alana Kelly’s composed ride.
Reforestation is a much loved character in the stable.
Owner/breeder Ross Wilkinson has had to be patient with this son of Reset. Reforestation had a few issues early in his career and a long time on the sidelines. So it’s wonderful to see him happy, healthy and showing determination over these middle and long distances.
