Ominous (GB) resumed at Caulfield on Saturday and I was delighted with his effort.
He did not have that long out after his last preparation but he did well and although he had only had two 800 metre jumpouts he did very well in both of them so I was anticipating a good perfomance. Fortunately Ominous did his part and ran a super race to finish fourth.
He got back from his wide draw which was the plan and we were looking for him to run on in the straight. Dwayne Dunn gave him a lovely ride and when he asked him to quicken in the home straight Ominous ran on well to make up several lengths and finish fourth.
For him to do that over 1400 metres was very pleasing and I was even happier when I saw his sectionals, the fastest last 200 metres in the race against race fit horses was a very good effort.
There is a 1700 metre handicap at Flemington in two weeks time that we will aim at next.
