This short story starts on Monday 26 April at Ballarat, the day Nigel came a cropper, shall we say. Luckily, the story ends with a double at Sportsbet-Ballarat on June 10th to give Nigel and Susanna, all the hard-working stable staff and of course numerous owners, just the tonic following a difficult few weeks.
The stable maintained our strong strike rate on the Sportsbet-Ballarat Synthetic surface with two more wins on Thursday 10 June. Both Kirakat and Under My Spell performed well in the wintery conditions to please their owners, and please a bruised and battered trainer.
One of the four yearlings purchased at the 2019 Inglis Gold sale was a lovely filly by US stallion The Factor, out of a three-quarter-sister to Derby winner Arena. Our filly, now named Northern Bliss, scored her first win at Warracknabeal in the state’s north-west.

Horses don’t know their odds, and Sheeza Tilly certainly didn’t race like the $81 chance the market rated her at Echuca today. It was pleasing to see her win, and win well. It’s a great result for the McFarlanes, Mark and Michelle, who bred and race the filly. She certainly appreciated the dry track at […]
It was great to take Inkerman Road to Cranbourne on Friday night and get his maiden won.
We were also saddened to hear the news of the passing of Shane Pattison, a highly respected farrier we’ve known for many years.
Wearing our stable colours, Translator showed great tenacity to knuckle down and win at Sandown today, his first this preparation.

We were thrilled to get the maiden with with Yankee Diva today at Kilmore, her third start of this campaign. She is a big, strong filly and being by Americain, she’s destined to focus on staying races. With her action and some natural ability she can pick up and build momentum beautifully and that was […]
It is a long 6 hour round trip to Swan Hill from Ballarat but when they perform like Breaking Loose did today it’s definitely worth it.
With a perfectly timed run, Kanzai broke her maiden impressively at Geelong today. Donning the Cambridge Stud silks of Brendan and Jo Lindsay, NZ-born rider Michael Dee made it something of a kiwi affair. For our stable it was particularly pleasing to bring her back to the races and see her return impressively after two […]
We were really pleased to get a nice win with Breaking Loose at Mornington today.
First and foremost, a thank you to our owners who were patient with this horse and will now hopefully reap the rewards of the time we’ve put into him.
